I am Renuka Khatiwada, a researcher in the field of Visual Cultural Studies. I am a second-year PhD student at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). My areas of research at present are the Community of women in the Street, Festival and gender roles. I am the director and Director of Photography for two documentaries, Art and the City and Anger and the Mahatma. I have an archive of thousands of photographs on Hindu and Buddhist festivals, religious sites, goddess series, and women in various moods and spaces. Members of SAFAR are working on visual research projects on selected photographs. I have also contributed as a photographer to the forthcoming illustrated book Seasons of the Divine (Ed. Arun Gupto).

My current research interests are Indigenous Environmental Justice, Environmental Rhetoric and Communication, Sonic Rhetoric, First-Year Writing, and Digital Rhetoric and Humanities.
